ISIS quits
Thursday, 20 May 2010

ISIS are breaking up. Sad but true. Here is their statement:

ISIS has reached an end. It's hard to try to say it in any delicate way, and it is a truth that is best spoken plainly. This end isn't something that occurred over night and it hasn't been brought about by a single cataclysmic fracture in the band. Simply put, ISIS has done everything we wanted to do, said everything we wanted to say. In the interest of preserving the love we have of this band, for each other, for the music made and for all the people who have continually supported us, it is time to bring it to a close. We've seen too many bands push past the point of a dignified death and we all promised one another early on in the life of the band that we would do our best to ensure ISIS would never fall victim to that syndrome. We've had a much longer run than we ever expected we would and accomplished a great deal more than we ever imagined possible. We never set any specific goals when the band was founded other than to make the music we wanted to hear and to play (and to stay true to that ideal), so everything else that has come along the long and winding path has been an absolute gift. As with any momentous life-changing decision (which this certainly is for the 5 of us), we feel a very dynamic range of emotions about this and cannot express all of it within the space of a few sentences, and perhaps it's best to do what we've always done in and let our music speak for us. It is and has been the truest expression of who we are as a collective and in some ways who we are as individuals for the 13 years in which we've been together. The last and perhaps most important thing we might say in relation to all this is how grateful we are for the people that have supported us over the years. It is a lengthy list that would include those who put out our records, those that played on them and put them to tape, the many bands with whom we shared the stage, all of our family, friends and companions who supported us in our individual lives and thus made it possible for us to continue on in the band, and most importantly those who truly listened to our music whether in recorded form or by coming to out to our shows (or both). It is quite true that we would never have done what we have without those people, that is many of you who are reading this. Our words can never fully express what we feel, but we hope that our music and the efforts made to bring it into being can serve as a more proper expression of gratitude for this life and for everyone in it. Thank you.

Small Brown Bike news
Tuesday, 16 February 2010
"Michigan’s Small Brown Bike have released the details for Composite Vol. 2, the second installment in their 7” series of new material for No Idea Records.

Scheduled for release on March 9th, Composite Vol. 2 will feature two new songs tracked this past January in the band’s home recording studio and mixed/mastered by Dave Feeny at Tempermill.

The 7” will be limited to 1,100 physical copies, which will include a digital download. Side A will host "Some Optimistic," with the flip side being home for "Never Walk This Alone."

The band commented that the two new songs "feel a little slower and colder than Composite Vol. 1’s material. That's what a winter in Michigan will do to a band."

SBB recently released Composite Vol. 1, a  7” on No Idea Records. The 7” featured two new songs recorded in 2009; “When We Run” and  “Hourglass.” The 7” was limited to 1,100 copies. No Idea has 30 left for sale on their mail-order website. The band has about 50 copies they will be selling at their upcoming shows in March."

Goatskane reunion
Tuesday, 22 September 2009

The Wait Is Over! Roadburn is very pleased to report that seminal doom-legends Goatsnake will reunite for Roadburn Festival 2010.

Featuring the original line up of Greg Anderson (Sunn 0))) / Guitars), Guy Pinhas (The Obsessed / Bass), Greg Rogers (The Obsessed / Drums) and Pete Stahl (Scream / Wool / earthlings? / Vocals) Goatsnake will headline the Thursday Roadburn date, April 15th2010.

With two classic-albums under their belt (“I”, re-released on Southern Lord & “Flower of Disease”), Goatsnake have forged a considerable niche in the heavy rock underground over the last decade with their signature Sunn guitar sound. Pete Stahl’s clean, soulful vocals have always been at the heart of Goatsnake’s low and slow bulldozer rock as well, setting them apart from their peers. Goatsnake‘s influence can still be heard and felt throughout the current stoner and doom scene, even after such a long hiatus.

Greg Anderson comments: "Roadburn is hands down the only festival that consistently has a lineup that I personally would like to see. Being asked to perform with Goatsnake is an honor and a privilege. I'm really fucking stoked to play music with Greg, Guy and Pete again. We will do our absolute best to kick as much ass as possible!"

We are truly looking forward to the melodic, low-end assault that Goasnake will bring to the festival, as we consider ourselves very lucky with this highly anticipated reunion.
