Wino - Punctuated Equilibrium
Written by Marcia, english only

winoScott "Wino" Weinrich needs no introduction, but he deserves one anyways. He got known being in St. Vitus, made waves with The Hidden Hand, Spirit Caravan and the Obsessed. Since The Hidden Hand is no more, he releases his first solo album - Punctuatet Equilibrium - along with Clutch member Jean Paul Gaster on drums and Jon Blank of Rezin on bass and they created a very nice piece of music.

Punctuated Equilibrium is full of aggressive blues influences as in the opener "Release Me", some anger (title track), even some good mooded grooves (Smiling Road), of course slow doom and sludge (Eyes Of The Flesh). "Secret Realm Devotion" is a hard rock track with a very doomy twist to it. There are some instrumental tracks on it, most of them with a jammed vibe to them, but actually it is better when Wino adds his voice to the songs because they become richer and stronger with it.

Punctuated Equilibrium is an incredibly Heartfelt and warm record by somebody who is truly an icon at what he does. His unique riffs and guitar work as well as his warm and emotional voice make his music very special. The mutltifacetted songs and the passion that have been put into them leave no room for complaints. If you like Winos earlier work, or are into doom and grooving stoner rock, you will definitely like this.
