Polar Bear Club - Sometimes Things Just Disappear

polar bear clubPolar Bear Club (I thought it was Polar Bear Cub 'til now, awwww) hail from Syracuse and this is a re-release of their 2008 debut "Sometimes Things Just Disappear" which was released on Red Leader Records. They will tour and record a new album for Bridge 9  in 2009.

Actually, Polar Bear Club sound a lot (A LOT!) like Hot Water Music or Gunmoll and I think that this is enough to describe their music, because if you like classic 90s emocore and happen to not know Hot Water Music you are an idiot anyways. Dual vocals with raspy voices, pretty good songwriting and nice lyrics you will have to read for yourselves. Hot Water Music are still a little better because they dig a bit deeper and are just a little more rough and raw, and a bit more angry and depressed, but since they are no more, Polar Bear Club are a nice substitute although they are not yet able of writing huge hits and there are a few weaknesses in some songs. But hey, this is their first album and I think the follow-up will be quite nice.

The artwork is good and it is nice to see a band not chasing after any trends but rather stick to the stuff they like. Sweet record.
